1. Used in both mid position and end position.
(badly, completely, deeply, enormously, entirely, greatly, keenly, largely, somewhat, thoroughly, tremendously, very much, fully, absolutely, particulary, partly, etc.)
I like him very much.
I very much like him.
He gave up smoking entirely.
He entirely gave up smoking.
2. Used in the mid position.
(hardly,barely, scarcely, narrowly, just, strongly, almost, also, even, quite, not quite, rather, fairly, half, about, merely, partially, doubly, etc)
I quite understand what you want.
They havent quite finished the work.
He hadnt quite paid his debt.
I hardly know you.
I scarcely understand the lesson.
3. Used in the end position. ( a lot, little, a great deal, much, twice, etc)
She sleeps a lot.
I rested too little.
I miss you a great deal.
I have watched this film twice.
Do you swim much?
4. Adverbs of degree are said before the verb (a.) or if the verb is to be, they are said after it. (b)
(almost, fairly, hardly, just, nearly, quite, pretty, rather, very, too etc)
a.He hardly knew me.
He almost fell.
She nearly died.
b. It is too salty to eat.
He is fairly active.
